HIGHWOOD CITY COUNCIL’S 3.3.26 MEETING IN A NUTSHELL
Appearance
The owner of La Union Supermarket (502 Sheridan Rd.) applied for approval of new business signage (related to a planned business relocation). The City Council voted to approve a resolution that authorizes the proposed signage.
Finance
The City Council voted to approve the payment of various bills totaling $80k.
Licensing
The owners of Pelago Cafe (325 Waukegan Ave.) applied for a Class C liquor license. This license permits the sale of beer and wine for consumption on premises only. The City Council voted to adopt an ordinance that increases the number of available Class C licenses by one so that the Mayor can grant the requested license.
Proclamation
Alderman Slavin notified the city that he will not serve the remainder of his term on the City Council (his term expires in April 2027). Mayor Pecaro read a proclamation expressing the city’s appreciation for Alderman Slavin’s service to the community, declared March 3, 2026, as “Alderman Brad Slavin Day,” and presented Alderman Slavin with a commemorative plaque bearing the proclamation.
